Big surprise: Prince Harry and Michelle Obama in Chicago
Robert Jobson1 November 2017

Prince Harry joined forces with Michelle Obama for a surprise visit to a school in Chicago - before saying young people held “the solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems”.

The prince and the former first lady spoke to students at Hyde Park Academy, a high school on Chicago’s South Side, near the future site of the Obama Presidential Center.

He told students young people can use their voices to change the world, and then spoke at an inaugural summit at Barack Obama’s foundation in Chicago about his late mother Princess Diana.

“I will always look up to her as my ideal role model. Everything she did was having an impact, it was making a difference,” he said.

He also said the young had “turned me into an optimist” and gave him “passion and inspiration”. He added that they “are the best-connected, the most passionate I think we’ve ever had ... so we need to create a platform so they can be heard, because they have the solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems”.
