A Canadian man won a lottery jackpot on the same day as his birthday and retirement.
Ping Kuen Shum bought a lotto ticket when he was in high birthday spirits on April 28.
It was also the Vancouver native’s last day of working life.
Striking lucky, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation confirmed he had won an astonishing C$2 million (£1.1million).
Mr Shum’s single ticket managed to match all six numbers – 9, 12, 13, 18, 21 and 29 – scooping the entire jackpot.
He said: “It’s unbelievable that all three events happened on the same day.
“I have worked hard for so many years and I’m looking forward to sharing this fortune with my family.”
The British Columbia Lottery Corporation calculated the chances of getting all of Mr Ping’s numbers as one in 13,983,816.
The winning ticket was sold at Parker Place Convenience Centre in Richmond.
It comes after 31 refinery workers won one of the largest jackpots in Canadian history in March.
The C$60 million (£34.4 million) jackpot won by oil refinery company Come By Chance is the biggest ever awarded from Atlantic Lottery.
The group had been buying lotto tickets for three months and had $155 worth of tickets, which turned out to be a rewarding return on investment.
They each received around C$1.9 million (£1.1 million), according to Atlantic Lottery.
