Five people have been arrested after a sex tape filmed in the changing room of a Uniqlo branch went viral online.
Chinese state media reported the arrests after millions of people viewed the one-minute clip when it was posted on sites including Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter.
A couple, who were filmed having sex in front of a mirror inside the shop in Beijing, were reportedly arrested on Wednesday - hours after the footage began circulating online.
Police launched an investigation into the clip, which was condemned as "unsocialist" by online watchdog the Cyberspace Administration of China.
Beijing Television reported that the investigation would focus on who published the video and whether it was a marketing stunt by Uniqlo - a suggestion the clothing brand has denied.
If the tape is found to have been a ploy for publicity, Uniqlo could face a fine of up to £100,000.
In a statement issued when the clip first emerged, the shop said: "We would like to remind the public to uphold social morality and use our fitting rooms in a correct and proper way."
Xu Feng, a director at the Cyberspace Administration of China, told the Global Times newspaper: "The vulgar video had spread like a virus online and clashed with socialist core values."
