A female panda celebrated her first birthday at the National Zoo in Kuala Lumpur.

The unnamed giant panda is the daughter of female Liang Liang and male Xing Xing, who are on a 10-year loan to Malaysia from China.

The youngster marked her birthday with a cake made of ice in front of adoring visitors.

The cake was decorated with a giant number "one" and carrots on top.

Their first cub, Nuan Nuan, born four years ago, has been returned to China.

Both cubs were born via natural conception.
