CCTV captures moment customer 'sets bouncer on fire' in dispute outside bar

Ablaze: the moment the bouncer, who suffered severe burns, is set on fire
Sebastian Mann14 April 2015

This is the moment a bouncer was set on fire by an aggrieved customer outside a US bar.

In the incident in Florida, police said the patron was thrown out the Neely’s Grog House bar for trying to pay off his tab by challenging other drinkers to games of pool.

The suspect later returned with a "cup full of gasoline", threw it over the bouncer before being chased out and in a scuffle ignited the flammable liquid with a lighter, police in Port St Lucie, Florida, said.

The incident, which took place at around 10pm on Sunday night, has sparked a manhunt, with the alleged attacker having fled the scene.

In the low-quality CCTV footage of the incident, the moment the victim is set ablaze is captured twice - first when half the screen fills with a blast of white light, and secondly from a different angle, when the flare can be seen in the bottom left of the screen.

A police spokesman said the victim was severely burned on his arms, face and chest before being airlifted to a specialist burns unit.

He added: "Port St. Lucie Police Detectives have identified Ivan Louis Rodriguez as the suspect whom set the victim on fire on April 12, 2015 at Neely’s Grog House.

"Police are actively searching for Rodriguez on the charge of aggravated battery."
