A 17-year-old boy became the first victim of New York's massive winter storm after he died in a crash while "snow-tubing" down a hill.

The boy, named by police as Sean Urda, hit a lamppost after losing control while careering down a street in wintry conditions.

The tragedy struck as was out with two other teenage friends in the suburb of Huntington on Long Island.
