A blunder saw the wrong year projected onto the side of Sydney Harbour bridge during their New Year’s Eve fireworks display.
A sign on the Sydney Harbour Bridge mistakenly showed ‘Happy New Year 2018’ to thousands of spectators as Australia welcomed in the New Year.
As many as a million people are believed to have gathered to watch the spectacular show.
The mishap was only projected for a short time, but eagle-eyed spectators managed to grab a snap of it, with many posting the picture on social media.
One person wrote online: “Happy New Year, apparently it’s still 2018 in Sydney.”
Another wrote: “Great error on Sydney harbour bridge fire show. Instead of Happy New Year 2019, they wrote Happy New Year 2018.”
The display consisted of 8.5 tonnes of fireworks and 100,000 individual pyrotechnic effects.
The display lasted for 12 minutes and is the largest fireworks show the city has held.
