A 23-year-old woman has died on a flight from London Heathrow to New Jersey it has been reported.
The woman was travelling on a United Airlines flight which landed at Newark Liberty International Airport yesterday evening.
It is understood a doctor tried to assist the passenger, who was believed to be travelling alone, but she failed to recover.
The plane left from Heathrow just before 6.45pm and the woman was found to be unconscious while mid-air.
Police and a medical examiner were waiting when the flight landed in New Jersey at 9.45pm.
It is believed the woman had pre-existing medical problems, Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo told NorthJersey.com.
Authorities are awaiting results of an autopsy and have not yet released her name.
The cause of death is not yet known.
