They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks - but apparently you can teach one to whisper.
In an amazing video shared online by dog owner Holly Stephens this week, one clever mutt has demonstrated the art of the quiet bark.
The short clip shows her mongrel Brody sitting on decking in a garden while he patiently awaits her instructions.
He can then be heard barking enthusiastically when she commands 'Speak' before delivering a hushed whisper when she asks him to.
The video has already been viewed more than 300,000 times since it was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday.
It attracted a flurry of positive comments from YouTube users.
One person said: "Amazing dog!"
Another wrote: "This is cute. What else can he do?"
