Veteran film-maker Ken Loach has revealed he is considering rejoining Labour.

The veteran Left-wing director hosted his Palme d’Or-winning film on the benefits system — I, Daniel Blake — at festival The World Transformed, held in Liverpool by the Momentum campaign group.

The festival is running as an unofficial fringe event to the Labour Party conference.

After quitting Labour in the mid-Nineties over Tony Blair’s leadership, Mr Loach, 80, said he has not yet rejoined, but is thinking about it.

He said: “I came to Labour Party conferences in the Eighties and they were very different.

"Resolution, amendments and points of order. This is about imagination and creativity and thinking more widely about what politics is. It’s brilliant.”

Mr Loach’s work includes 1969’s Kes and the 2006 Cannes winner The Wind That Shakes The Barley.

He also made a film about Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership campaign.

On coming back to Labour, he said: “I think lots of people are considering it. I’m considering it.”
