Tribute to murdered Harrow woman

12 April 2012

The grandmother of a woman stabbed to death at one of Britain's most prestigious private schools has paid tribute to her "beautiful" granddaughter.

Lucy Braham, the 25-year-old daughter of Harrow School's art director, was killed at her parents' home near the school entrance on Thursday.

William Jaggs, 22, who was arrested over her death, is in a "serious but stable" condition in hospital after apparently stabbing himself.

Miss Braham's maternal grandmother, who did not wish to be named, spoke about her from her home in Bridgwater, Somerset.

She said: "Lucy was the most beautiful, talented, kind and generous person you could wish to know.

"She was such a lovely creature that I find it hard to do justice to her in words. I would not want anyone to think ill of her.

"She was a quiet, thoughtful child who channelled all her energy into her creative side and she was starting to produce the most wonderful things."

The family was taking "great comfort" from their religious faith, she said, adding: "Lucy is now at peace. She is no longer suffering.

"It is those who are left behind who are the ones in pain and must learn how to deal with it.

"We can take some solace from the fact she will have gone straight to heaven and will pray for everyone who has been touched by this truly awful event."
