Drummond puddle watch: Thousands captivated by live stream of pedestrians negotiating a big puddle

Ramzy Alwakeel6 January 2016

Thousands of people are glued to rolling footage of a large puddle in Newcastle.

A camera – possibly attached to a smartphone – has been set up overlooking the impromptu pool, which is at the end of a footbridge in the northern city.

Enormous numbers of viewers logged on to watch a succession of damp pedestrians negotiate the crossing.

Some opted to leap across the expanse of water while others grasped a nearby lamppost and carefully swung around.

As of 3pm more than 15,000 people were watching the live stream, by which time a yellow “caution: wet floor” sign had been positioned in the centre of the pool, removed and then returned.
