UKIP's Douglas Carswell tweets 'the sun is shining' after Nigel Farage quits

The sun is shining: Carswell trolls Farage
JEREMY SELWYN

Beleaguered UKIP MP Douglas Carswell has hit out against Nigel Farage after the UKIP leader's resignation.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage announced his resignation this morning, stating he could not possibly do more.

Days before his resignation, Mr Farage said UKIP’s only MP could be booted out of the party after disagreeing on a number of issues on the referendum.

Tweeting a picture of himself today smiling next to a Vote Leave Bus, Mr Carswell wrote: “The sun is shining.”

Mr Carswell previously slated posters used by Mr Farage in the referendum of queues of refugees, calling them morally wrong.

Speaking about Douglas Carswell on LBC, Mr Farage said: “We find somebody inside our party who doesn’t agree with anything the party stands for, it’s a very odd state of affairs.

“Why would you join a party like Ukip, with me as the leader, with our policies and manifesto, and then from almost day one of joining, disagree with everything we say or do? I find it really, really odd.”

Mr Carswell said he did not know of any plan to remove him from UKIP and that the decision would lie with the National Executive Committee.
