British Gas and Sky customers face spring price increases of around £169 extra per year.

Sky's broadband and TV customers are set to have their bills increase by an average of £36 - depending on what they subscribed to and when.

If customers have signed up to Sky's broadband essential package their bill will rise by £3 a month, while the anytime calls package is set to rise by £2 a month.

The rises are capped at £72 per annum or £6 per month.

Customers who are affected by the rise are free to leave their contracts without incurring any penalties.

It comes as energy regulator Ofgem has said that it will raise the price cap on standard tariffs back to pre-pandemic levels.

British Gas and EDF have said that they will pass this cost onto their customers, a roughly 9% increase at an average of around £97 per household.

Added together this could leave customers of both Sky and British Gas £169 out of pocket.
