The parents of twin girls mauled by a fox as they slept in their cots have said "it is incredible to have our beautiful girls back home".

Nine-month-old Isabella Koupparis left hospital on Thursday, joining her sister Lola, who was discharged last Friday.

Their parents Nick and Pauline said: "As Isabella has just arrived home, we want to spend this wonderful day celebrating as a family.

"It is incredible to have our beautiful girls back home at last."

The twins were found crying and covered in blood after the fox went into their upstairs bedroom in Hackney, east London, on June 5.

It is thought to have crept in through a door on the ground floor of the smart three-storey house, which was left open because of the hot weather, while the children's parents watched Britain's Got Talent on television.

Barts and the London NHS Trust said in a statement: "Isabella Koupparis was discharged from the Royal London Children's Hospital to continue her recuperation at home following successful treatment.

Lola was treated at the same hospital.

Isabella also received treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London before returning to the Royal London.

The twins' four-year-old brother Max, who was also sleeping upstairs, was not hurt in the attack.
