Royal fans have said a new diamond ring could indicate the Duchess of Sussex is expecting her first child in April.

There has been much speculation over Meghan's due date since Kensington Palace confirmed she is pregnant last week.

In a statement, it said she and Prince Harry will welcome the royal baby in spring.

Now eagle-eyed royal watchers have spotted a possible clue as to the exact date - hidden in the duchess' accessories at an Invictus Games event in Australia.

Meghan wore three stacked rings by Canadian brand Ecksand at the royal tour engagement in Sydney on Saturday.

Fans have suggested Meghan's August birthday was represented by the green stone, Harry's September birthday represented by a blue sapphire, and baby's speculated April due date represented by the diamond.

The new rings were noticed by royal fan @DuchyofSuccess.

She posted: "I'm hoping Meghan's stacked rings represent their birthstones and Baby Sussex is an April baby.

"Meghan's birthstone - green peridot. Baby Sussex birthstone - diamond. Harry's birthstone - blue sapphire."

The duchess's green stone ring is actually Ecksand's emerald stackable ring priced at $1,190 CAD (£708).

Emerald usually represents May.

However, the Canadian brand does not appear to stock Meghan's birthstone, green peridot.

The other rings worn by Meghan were the Ecksand's sapphire and marquise diamond stackable rings.

It comes after Australian singer Missy Higgins claimed Meghan is already four months pregnant.

Posting on Instagram after she met the royals during their tour, she wrote: "What an honour to meet the beautiful Duchess today!

"She was such a sweetheart. I said I felt sorry for her having to do all these meet-and-greets while 4 months pregnant! What a trooper."

This could mean that Meghan is around 17 or 18 weeks pregnant, which would put her due date at the beginning of April.
