Thieves have broken into the house of an elderly cyclist - two days after he was killed in a road accident.

Detectives are investigating the "despicable" break-in at the 74-year-old's home in Boston, Lincolnshire.

A window in his front door was found smashed in shortly after 9am this morning, police said.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released by police, died in hospital after a collision with a car in nearby Frithville on Thursday afternoon.

Detective Constable Sue-Ellen Wilson, from Boston CID, said: "All burglaries are abhorrent but to break into the home of someone who recently died in very tragic circumstances is a despicable crime.

"Extra police patrols are being carried out in the area and I am urging anyone with information about the burglary to contact me or approach one of the local officers.

"Alternatively, you can provide information in complete anonymity by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
