One of the personal assistants cleared of stealing hundreds of thousands of pounds from Nigella Lawson was today accused of breaking up the marriage of a former policeman who gave evidence at her trial.
Francesca Grillo has admitted having an affair with married father-of-one Adam Denton-Beaumont.
His hospital consultant wife Ruth, who is described as “absolutely devastated and furious”, has thrown him out of the marital home In Market Harborough which is now on the market.
Ms Grillo, 35, had called Mr Denton-Beaumont as a character witness at her trial at Isleworth Crown Court in December.
She and her older sister Lisa were found not guilty of the unauthorised spending of £685,000 on corporate credit cards provided by the TV chef and her then husband Charles Saatchi.
In a statement read to the jury, Mr Denton-Beaumont, 35 a construction project manager, described his lover as trustworthy and honest.
He did not mention any love for Ms Grillo but stated they had “a close and personal relationship.”
Ms Grillo says the affair did not start until after the trial when he was already separated but Mrs Denton-Beaumont believes it has been going on since last May.
The former couple had been married in 2004 and Mrs Denton-Beaumont, 34, is looking after their four-year-old son.
He was working for a construction firm in London when Ms Grillo joined as a PA in January 2013.
