Tube strike cancelled: RMT suspends September walkouts on Central and Victoria lines

James Morris30 August 2019

Strike action on the Central and Victoria lines next week has been suspended.

Industrial action had been expected to take place from 8pm on Tuesday until 8pm on Wednesday amid a union dispute with Transport for London (TfL).

But RMT suspended the strike this evening.

It said in a statement: "On the Central line a satisfactory agreement has been reached with the company which resolves the dispute.

"In the case of the Victoria line sufficient progress has been made to suspend the action to allow further negotiations in order to resolve the key elements of the dispute."

It added that members of the union had been instructed to "work as normal" on the dates.

TfL previously said it was open to further talks.
