Ex-Crimewatch host Rav Wilding told of his struggles finding a job after leaving the Army as he called for more support for veterans.

He joined actress Michelle Collins and actor Matt Barber at the launch of a series of short films to help promote employment for former military personnel.

Joanna Lumley, Ray Winstone and Richard Wilson are also involved in the Veterans Work initiative.

At a Soho screening they highlighted the skills veterans have, and the barriers to getting jobs after military service.

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Wilding, 40, below, was in the Army for six years. “When I left it was hard to integrate into society because that was my home, my family,” he said.

“Ex-service personnel have skills like diligence, punctuality, determination.” He became a security guard then a policeman.

The films were put together by The Drive Project.
