Gas deaths mother Sharon Wood hits out at Thomas Cook boss

The mother of Bobby and Christi Shepherd, the six and seven-year-old killed by a gas leak on a Thomas Cook holiday in Corfu in 2006, today accused the travel firm’s former chief executive of using their memory to gain sympathy.

Harriet Green led Thomas Cook while it fought to stop inquests into the deaths, according to mother Sharon Wood, but has said she will give a third of a payout to charity.

Ms Wood said: “To try and gain public empathy by attaching her donation to the memory of my Christi and Bobby I find abhorrent.”
