Woman, in 50s, killed after being hit by van in north London

A woman has been killed after she was hit by a van by a parade of high street shops on Monday morning.

Paramedics were called to reports of the collision in Hale Lane, Edgware at just before 6am.

The woman, in her 50s, died at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed, the Met added.

The male driver of the van remained at the scene and is said to be assisting police with their enquiries.

There have been no arrests.

One local said: “I was walking past and just saw the body covered in a green blanket all alone. All the police and paramedics were talking at the entrance to the Harvester and I saw the grey van parked up.

“There is a zebra crossing right there a few feet away from where she was placed in the road.”

Any witnesses to this incident are asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 914/28Mar.
