A mother who was high on drugs when she killed her two daughters and two teenage friends in a head-on car crash has been jailed for nine years and disqualified from driving for 10 years.
Davina Smith, 31, was using a stolen Ford Fiesta to take one of her children to the doctor when she suddenly swerved on to the other side of the road and ploughed into a Vauxhall Corsa.
The tragedy not only claimed the lives of Karis, eight, and Kalli, four, but caused the deaths of aspiring model Kezia Adger and motorbike enthusiast Lee Gray, both 16, who were also travelling with her.
All four, none of whom were wearing seatbelts, died from multiple injuries. Three were thrown from the car by the force of the impact.
Smith from Tilbury, Essex, who suffers from a heart condition, was also seriously injured in the accident in January last year.
She initially lied that Lee had been at the wheel. Although she later admitted lying, she did not give evidence and refused to shoulder the blame.
Instead she claimed through counsel that the Crown had neither proved drugs had impaired her driving nor managed to discount the possibility a distraction had caused her to swerve.
However, those trying the case at London's Snaresbrook Crown Court, took just over two hours to convict her of four counts of causing death by careless driving "while unfit through drugs".
Earlier, Smith, who has never held any form of driving licence, had admitted one count of aggravated vehicle taking in connection with the Fiesta, which disappeared from Westcliff-on-Sea the day before the tragedy.
