CCTV footage in prostitutes search

12 April 2012

Detectives searching for two prostitutes who have disappeared from a town's red light district have released a closed circuit television image of one of the missing women.

Gemma Adams, 25, was last seen in Ipswich, Suffolk, late on Tuesday and Tania Nicol, 19, had not been seen in the town since October 30, say police.

Detectives say there are "obvious similarities" between the disappearances of the two prostitutes and concern is growing.

They said the CCTV image showed Miss Nicol walking near the exit of a Sainsbury's garage on London Road, Ipswich, at 11.02 pm on October 30.

"We have been able to establish that this image is of Tania," said a spokesman.

"We now have a definite indication of where Tania was and when on the night she went missing.

"I hope that, by releasing this image, it might jog the memories of people who were in the area.

Officers said Miss Nicol was wearing pink shoes and her clothing would have been "quite distinctive".

"As the days go on we are becoming increasingly concerned," said Detective Superintendent Andy Henwood, who is heading the investigation. Their line of work makes them extremely vulnerable."

Police said Miss Adams was white, blonde and 5ft 2ins. Miss Nicol was olive skinned, dark haired and also 5ft 2ins.
