Businessman kidnap accused in court

12 April 2012

Six men will appear in court on Wednesday after a businessman was allegedly abducted at gunpoint from his home.

Grandfather Javed Mukhtar, 58, was found by police in Manchester on Monday, three weeks after his disappearance.

He went missing from his house in Pollokshaws, Glasgow, on September 29.

Six men aged between 17 and 50 have been arrested in connection with the alleged snatch and will appear at the city's sheriff court.

Mr Mukhtar was found unharmed on Tuesday, after what has been described as an "extensive" operation by officers from Glasgow and other forces.

There was concern over the shop-owner's health as he is a diabetic and had been fasting in observance of Ramadan.
