Britain First’s Facebook page has been reopened following a row with the social networking giant who it accused of launching a “fascist attack” by shutting it down.

Leader Paul Golding threatened to “drag Facebook into court” after the group’s fan page was temporarily suspended.

However, the group has since praised the company for "reversing their decision" after the page appeared active again.

A statement on the group’s website reads: “Only an hour and a half later, Facebook have re-published our enormously popular Facebook page.

“We don’t know why it was taken down in the first place, but we are in talks with Facebook to see why.

“We applaud Facebook for reversing their decision and yielding to common sense and fair play.”

The far-right group also boasted leftwing opponents were left “furious” by the decision.

According to Facebook, Britain First has more than 1.1 million supporters.

A Facebook spokesman said: "The page was removed in error but has now been restored."
