Two brothers accused of attempting to murder two young boys have appeared before magistrates for a second time.
The pair, aged 10 and 11, were again remanded into secure local authority care during the brief hearing at Doncaster Youth Court.
They are accused of attacking and robbing a nine-year-old boy and his 11-year-old uncle in Edlington, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, on April 4.
The two boys were taken into the dock by security guards and sat next to each other behind the screens during the five-minute hearing.
The younger of the brothers, wearing a grey Umbro sweatshirt, raised his hand as he confirmed his name. The older boy wore a sleeveless, grey, hooded top over a white T-shirt and simply spoke to confirm his details. There were no applications for bail and the pair were remanded into secure council accommodation for 28 days.
Police were alerted on April 4 after the nine-year-old boy was found wandering, covered in blood, in the former pit village. The youngster told the people who found him where to find his uncle, who was discovered unconscious in a nearby wooded ravine.
Last week, the younger of the two victims was released from Doncaster Royal Infirmary following a second operation. According to reports, his 11-year-old friend and uncle was released from hospital at the weekend.
The two accused brothers, who cannot be named for legal reasons, each face the same four charges.
These are that they attempted to murder the two boys, who also cannot be named, in Doncaster on April 4 and that they robbed each of the youngsters on the same date. According to the robbery charges, the brothers are accused of taking a mobile phone from the younger boy and £5 from the older boy.
The case was adjourned until May 12, when the brothers will appear before the same court.
