A four-year-old boy is being treated for serious injuries after he was mauled by a dog.

The child was attacked in the Greenfield area of Holywell, north Wales, at 7.20pm on Tuesday.

A man who intervened was also attacked by the dog, and both he and the boy were taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital, in Bodelwyddan, by ambulance.

The man was released after treatment to leg and arm injuries but the boy remains in hospital.

His injuries are described as serious, but not life-threatening.
