Commuters were hit with severe delays after signal failures disrupted four London Underground lines this morning.

Signal failures at Edgware Road led to travel chaos on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines.

There are also severe delays between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road stations on the District line.

There was also disruption for commuters travelling between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Uxbridge on the Metropolitan line.

It comes after a tree came down on the line at Forest Hill yesterday, causing disruption to London Overground services.

Steve White, operations director for Transport for London, said: "I apologise for the disruption to Tube customers using the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines this morning.

"This was caused by a signal failure at Edgware Road which our engineers have resolved and services have now resumed."
