Zac Goldsmith today revealed that Labour figures are advising his campaign to win City Hall.

The Tory mayoral candidate told the Standard he wanted to work with “as many people as possible” and had al-ready gone beyond party boundaries.

It follows a divisive Labour selection campaign in which Tooting MP Sadiq Khan beat favourite Tessa Jowell after an incredible surge in support, partly as a result of Corbynmania.

In his first interview since his selection as candidate, Mr Goldsmith said: “It cannot be a tribal campaign — that’s not going to be of interest to London and it’s not going to be in London’s interests either.

“I’ve had some fascinating people, even from the Labour Party, who have approached me with ideas and offers of help, people I cannot name because it would be unfair to do so.

“I’m not just going to talk just to Conservatives because there are a lot of others in London who have got really good ideas.”

It comes after George Osborne announced at the Tory conference that Labour peer Andrew Adonis, who helped run Dame Tessa’s London campaign, was resigning the Labour whip to chair the Chancellor’s new infrastructure body.
