Tory chiefs in Enfield have come under fire for apparently Photoshopping a former MP — and his “floating” dog — into a campaign photo.

David Burrowes, the former MP for Enfield Southgate, and his labrador appear in the snap which was sent to a local newspaper to accompany an article about a “dangerous” road junction.

But residents who attended the photocall say Mr Burrowes arrived after the picture had been taken, and have accused the local Conservative group of doctoring the image.

Travel campaigner Hal Haines, 56, said: “I stood for the photograph happily then saw David Burrowes walking up the street.

"My friend and I said we didn’t want to be pictured with him and walked off. Next thing I know there’s a photograph of us all together.”

The image was reportedly sent to the local newspaper by Jasmine Storry, a Conservative candidate for Southgate.

Another image was later sent to replace the original.

Miss Storry refused to comment.
