Dragons’ Den-style investors from India are poised to plough millions of pounds into business start-ups in London, David Cameron announced today.
The Indian Angel Network of investors will open an office in the capital’s Tech City in February and is keen to put money into start-ups, particularly technology enterprises that can “scale up quickly”.
In talks in Delhi, the Prime Minister told investors London offered rich entrepreneurial talent and that he was “excited about what Britain and India can do together”. He told the Standard: “The arrival of Indian Angels is great news for the city, especially its start-up companies.
“The opening of a London office will provide exciting opportunities for entrepreneurs.
“It’s a shining example of how our strong relationship with India is delivering tangible benefits for British business.”
Set up in 2006, the Indian Angel Network involves more than 250 of the country’s leading business figures and has invested in or helped to create around 90 companies, spending around £10 million.
