Viscount Astor reveals the naked truth of the Profumo affair

Profumo did not see Christine Keeler swimming topless at Cliveden House, according to the Viscount

Annabel Astor and Nicky Haslam threw a party last night at OKA in Fulham Road to launch their catalogue, Nicky Haslam for OKA 2013-2014.

Lady Astor’s daughter, Samantha Cameron, was there but declined to be photographed.

Annabel’s husband, Viscount Astor, explained to Lord Lloyd-Webber, who is working on a musical about the 1963 Profumo scandal, some details of the events at Cliveden he saw as a nine-year-old. “A lot of people think Profumo spotted Christine Keeler swimming naked in the pool but he didn’t,” said Astor. “In fact, he went to Stephen Ward’s cottage and got her number. The man who saw Christine swimming topless was President Ayub Khan of Pakistan. Ward was not a nice man. But he was not a pimp.”
