Why are there more pandas in Scotland than Tory MPs? Could it be due to defeatism in the party?

Responding to criticism about the lack of Tory candidates north of the border, Oliver Cooper, chair of the Conservative youth wing, tweeted sarcastically: “Like your optimism at our chances of winning Glasgow Central” and “How many target seats do we have in Scotland?” Answer: none.

Perhaps young Tories need the fighting spirit of Jacob Rees-Mogg? He was once the candidate for East Fife, near Kircaldy. On finding a dearth of local activists he brought his nanny up to help him campaign.
