What would the Mitford sisters think of this? A new exhibition called Country Scenes is going on show at their childhood home, Asthall Manor, in the Cotswolds town of Burford, and one of the pictures shows the celebrated naked rambler strolling past the old post office of an Oxfordshire village.

It’s by Nesta FitzGerald, daughter of the late Desmond FitzGerald, the Knight of Glin.

Nesta, who studied art history at Camberwell, is also a sister-in-law of the actor Dominic West, who has never been naked rambling as far as the Londoner knows.
