Thatcher as dutiful wifey after hubby's round of golf

Retired restaurateur Richard Shepherd, a partner of Langan’s Brasserie, recalls playing golf with Sir Denis Thatcher at Sunningdale Golf Club. Once he drove Sir Denis back to Dulwich, where the Thatchers lived briefly when they left Downing Street.

“Would you like a tincture?” said Thatcher as the gates opened. “No thanks, I’m driving,” said Shepherd, “but I wouldn’t mind a coffee.” “Maggie, Maggie,” boomed Sir Denis as soon as he was inside the door. “Could you bring me a large gin and tonic and a coffee for my friend?”

The former PM appeared with a tray, like the modest housewife she always claimed to be.
