Struggling history scribe Princess Michael of Kent has said she doesn’t go to restaurants in these austere times. However, she missed a free meal on November 6 when she was invited to switch on the Christmas lights at the Milestone Hotel opposite Kensington Gardens.
Invitations to the ceremony were printed with her name on them but her husband had to carry out his duties accompanied by his private secretary Nick Chance, who dined with him and a small party at the Milestone.
