The Crown's Pippa Middleton actor coy about 'spoilers' in first public appearance

Matilda Broadbridge, 19, says filming the final series has been 'amazing'

Matilda Broadbridge is a fresh face on the party circuit. The 19-year-old actor in training is set to star as Pippa Middleton in the final series of The Crown. We spoke to her at a Reiss Atelier dinner party off The Mall, appropriately close to Buckingham Palace, last night. It was the first public event Broadbridge has attended since her role as Pippa Middleton in the Netflix drama was revealed.

Naturally we were keen to ask about her time on the show. But Netflix bosses have placed Broadbridge under "strict instructions" not to give any spoilers, the actor told us. Luckily good old Wikipedia or any online newspaper archive are there if you want to find out how it ends. This is Broadbridge's first professional role, so what got her the part? "It’s my first role ever. I’m at drama school at the moment. Actually, I was cast before drama school,” she said.

According to Broadbridge "it was amazing" filming with her co-stars, who include Imelda Staunton as the late Queen, Sir Jonathan Pryce as Prince Phillip and Dominic West as Prince Charles before he became King. With the last series ready to air, we asked if Broadbridge had been to The Crown's finale wrap party with her fellow cast members. “We’re waiting to celebrate,” she said cautiously. For the time being, dinner and drinks on Reiss with actors, models and socialites will have to do.

Meanwhile across town in Tufnell Park, Pixie Geldof and Jack Guinness were celebrating the launch of Amex Gold's Unsigned initiative, which aims to support the grassroots music industry, provide a platform for unsigned artists to get their music heard, and spotlight the importance of live music venues that are essential to emerging musicians' development.
