Jeremy Paxman stuck in the past

Although Jeremy Paxman was physically present for Newsnight yesterday, his mind seemed to be on other things. In an interview with former Chancellor Nigel Lawson, a demob-happy Paxman referred to the Prime Minister as Michael Howard, only recollecting moments later that the PM is in fact David Cameron.

It’s been nearly a decade since Howard was Tory leader — and almost twice that since Paxman eviscerated him on air by asking the same question 14 times. “Reliving past glories already, Jeremy?” tittered one Twitter wag.
