To the Bulgari hotel in Knightsbridge for a screening of A Gentleman’s Wager, a short film starring Jude Law made by Johnnie Walker Blue Label. Earlier this year, bonkbuster queen Jilly Cooper defined a gentleman as “someone who drives you home after he’s been to bed with you”. We had to ask the assembled women if they agreed. Actress Clara Paget, left, went for humour while Laura Bailey, right, prefers simple manners.

Events guru Yasmin Mills added: “You want a nice James Bond; he’s great but he never sticks around.” The Londoner has always been a 007 fan but we’d rather he left than expect us to wash his socks.
