Amuse-bouches all round from the gastro-grandees

13 May 2014

Stephen Fry’s campaign against the Dorchester continues but with unfortunate timing. Last week Prince Harry dropped by for a charity bash, a long-standing engagement, and this morning it was the turn of Mark Flanagan, chef to Her Majesty.

He co-hosted a special breakfast at the hotel for chefs to heads of state from around the world — Club des Chefs de Chefs. He was joined by other gastro-grandees, including Christian Garcia, who cooks for Prince Albert of Monaco, and served up Oeufs Drumkilbo — posh prawn cocktail — as an amuse-bouche.

The boycott campaign is less amusant. It comes after the Dorchester’s owner, the Sultan of Brunei, imposed Sharia law in his country, stoning being the punishment for homosexuality.
