Blackheath Hill collision: Woman fighting for life after van veers off road and hits pedestrians

A woman is fighting for life in hospital after she was hit by a van which veered off a road in south-east London.

Two women, both aged in their 30s, were knocked down by the Peugoet after it mounted the pavement in Blackheath Hill, Greenwich, on Wednesday evening..

One was taken to hospital by paramedics and was in a critical condition, police said.

The second woman did not need hospital treatment.

London's air ambulance was also dispatched to the collision, which happened at 5.25pm.

The van's driver, a 57-year-old man, stopped at the scene and was unhurt.

He has not been arrested and is "assisting police with their investigation", a Met spokesman said.

Detectives from the force's roads and transport policing squad are investigating.

The crash caused rush-hour tailbacks on Blackheath Hill.
