A pug puppy found abandoned in south-west London may lose his eye, vets say.
The dog, who has been named Pumpkin, was dumped in a plastic pet carrier in a garden in Wimbledon.
Homeowners found the six-week-old puppy alongside a note which read: “Free Pug xx” on October 20.
Pumpkin was suffering from a gash above his right eye.
RSPCA vets have said there is a chance the animal may have to have his eye removed.
Inspector Phil Norman said: “The note indicates he has been dumped deliberately so it may be that he was an unwanted pet and his owner didn’t realise the amount of work it takes to look after a puppy, or that they did not want to pay the cost of vet care.
“We’re hoping someone can help provide us with information about how he came to have the injury on his head too. This poor puppy has had a difficult start in life but is fortunately now getting the care and attention he needs.”
