There is severe disruption on the Victoria Line this morning after a fatality on the tracks.

Officers were called to Walthamstow Underground station just after 7.30am after a person was hit by a train.

Paramedics battled to save their life but they were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is not known at this time.

Services have now resumed between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central but there are still delays on the rest of the line.

Many are reporting overcrowding on the London Overground as Victoria Line commuters resort to other services.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: "Officers were called to Walthamstow Underground station at 7.36am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
