Forget pool and darts. The latest bar room game set to take London by storm is table tennis.

The capital’s first ping pong bar has opened in Earl’s Court, where customers can play the game while drinking cocktails and eating pizza.

Ping is the brainchild of friends Alex Potter, Jonny Boud, Stevie Thomas and Fraser Shipsides, who were inspired after seeing how the trend has been taking off in New York. The venue in Earl’s Court Road has three tables which are free to use.

Mr Boud, 28, said: “It’s really fun and everyone just jumps on as soon as they see them. People gravitate towards them.

“We wanted to create a bar and kitchen but stay away from being a club. People want more than just dancing and eating, so we thought about the ping pong element.

"It’s great — people end up playing people they don’t even know. It’s a really sociable thing.”
