A naked man shocked locals on Saturday after ordering a coffee from Greggs in Crouch End and refusing to leave.

An image of the man sitting with a hot drink in the nude as a staff member confronted him was widely shared on social media.

Police said they were called to the bakery on Saturday at 10.30am to reports of a naked man inside a commercial premises who was refusing to leave.

They found the man on a nearby street and requested he put some clothes on, which he did.

A spokesperson for the Met told The Standard: “The man was given strong words of advice by officers and was reminded that behaviour causing alarm or distress to the public could be an offence under the Public Order Act.”

The man has also been spotted wearing black Speedos and lying down in Crouch End Broadway.

Crouch End Lib Dem councillor, Luke Cawley-Harrison, said he had spoken to police about the incident.

Writing on Facebook, he said: “I have spoken to the [police] today regarding this and they have confirmed that for indecent exposure / public indecency there is a requirement for two victims /witnesses to come forward.

“No one did so, despite obviously being a busy high street and so he was firmly spoken to and asked to put clothes on - which he did.

“Should the police be required to speak to him again for the same reason now a warning has been issued this will be treated as a public order offence.

“This was made clear to him. If anyone does see him doing so please do raise with the police.”
