Moment man swipes Meningitis collection box from behind bar

Jamie Micklethwaite8 August 2016

A shameless thief has been caught on video swiping a meningitis charity's collection box from behind the bar.

Police have released CCTV of a man stealing the charity box from a pub in Bexley Village in a bid to catch the culprit.

The suspect had been drinking in the Miller's Arms in the village on July 14 with a pregnant woman when he approached the bar.

When the landlord left the area around 10.50pm, the suspect is seen walking behind the bar before taking something from the shelf.

He hides the object underneath his shirt before walking off.

The pub had been raising money for Meningits Now.

Enquiries into the incident are continuing and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information should call Bexley CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
