Fans shocked with addition of FIFTH member for new line-up
9 May 2012

Hundreds of actors and musicians in Chelsea boots and mop-top wigs have auditioned to star in London’s first musical about The Beatles.

The producers of Let It Be are looking for a John, a Paul, a George, a Ringo and also a “fifth Beatle” to play the keyboard.

The show's producer, Jamie Hendry, told the Independent: "What we want is excellent musicians who can sing and play every note, and pick up on every nuance of the way the Beatles did it.

"We want them not just to look like but to feel like a Beatle."

Two sets of four Beatles will be picked from the hundreds of hopefuls. Two keyboard players will also be chosen to provide backing and effects for some of the band's later hits, which were never performed live.

Let it Be will run at the Prince of Wales Theatre, where The Beatles played the Royal Variety Performance in 1963, and show the band’s life through 20 songs spanning different stages in their career.
