Residents in parts of east London woke up without any water this morning.

Scores of people took to social media to complain about the lack of running water in Hackney.

Thames Water said the problem had been caused by a pump problem in Finsbury Park.

Twitter user @Kalicooking wrote: “Water pressure is going.. Are we about to have another water cut in e9?!”

Residents in E8, E3, E1, E5, and E2 also complained of a lack of water.

A spokesman for Thames Water said: "We’re sorry to those customers who didn’t have water or experienced low pressure for a short time this morning.

"Our pumps at Finsbury Park booster station temporarily stopped working and had to be restarted. They are now working as they should and water supplies are returning to normal.”
