Man dies after blaze rips through first-floor flat in Willesden Green

A man has died after a fire tore through a flat in Willesden Green, northwest London.

London Fire Brigade was called to the scene in residential Lancaster Road around 5.30am on Tuesday.

Fifteen firefighters and three fire engines were sent from Willesden, Park Royal and West Hampstead fire stations.

They arrived to find half of a three-roomed flat ablaze, on the first floor of a converted semi-detached house.

A man was found on the first floor, but was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire was under control by around 6.50am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
